Growing Potatoes in Containers Why should I be growing my own potatoes? Potatoes can be so cheap to buy, so why bother growing potatoes? One reason is taste, they’re far tastier, full of flavour a...
Vigoroot Herb Planter
The Vigoroot Planters are ideal for small gardens, patios and balconies or for simply growing herbs and vegetables within easy reach of the kitchen. They will give abundant crops that are easy to care for and easy to harvest. At the end of the growing season they can be folded away and stored for the following year. All the planters come with those helpful Haxnicks extras; reinforced handles and a handy growing guide.
The magic of Vigoroot fabric comes from its ability to ‘air-prune’ the roots of plants, dramatically changing their formation and their ability to sustain the plant in a limited volume of compost. It encourages more vigorous rooting, which enables the plants to absorb more nutrients. It prevents the roots from growing too long, and helps prevent plants from becoming ‘pot-bound’ which would normally limit the plants’ growth. This means that the plants can grow to a much larger size in a relatively small pot. The super strong root system also helps the plants to become more resistant to harsh weather, pests and diseases.
Helpful Haxnicks hint: grow your favourite culinary herbs in a planter just outside the kitchen door.

Perfect container for growing herbs
Very easy to use and just the right size
This is for seedlings that will be transplanted later. I'm following the biodynamic method of Maria Thun, so a shallow seed tray is no good; the plants may have to wait a week or more for their moment to move. This herb planter is deep enough for them to be able to stay there for some time, but not so deep that I've got masses of compost tied up in just a few plants.
